  7. Memory Verse: Revelation 17:14 "They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings - and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers."

    AMEN!!!!

  8. LOVED WHAT BETH SAID!! He has made you to be more than you can ever imagine!! Goes along so well with my devo today. My devo was about living a life to bear much fruit for God. It said high on our list of things that hold us back from bearing fruit is "a lack of time, talent, or ability". None of these are listed in scripture though as a requirment for fruit only that we are in Christ. He made us to be so much more than we can imagine. Do we really believe him for that? I want to!!!!!

  9. It was so great to see everyone last night! I am so excited about this study. God I know is going to work great things! I just wanted to share something that a good friend of mine posted on his facebook. He is a Methodist minister down in East St. Louis area and an old camp buddy of mine.

"Following God means you have to have an adjustment to your mind, spirit, body, and soul. Simply put, following God is more than a notion."

    AMEN!!!

  10. It is so good to know that God loves us no matter what and we have our "sisters" in study to grow with! I like the adjustment to your mind, body spirit and soul, Rach. So true!!

  11. I am rereading "Diamonds in the Dust" daily devotional by Joni Eareckson Tada. Today the one I read was on confidence and her quote was,
"People are only as secure as the source of their security; if we are secure in Christ, then we have every reason to be confident."
May you be Blest with confidence today and each day!

  13. I'm wondering if anyone might be interested in attending the LIVE Beth Moore feed on April 24th ( I believe that's the correct date ) at Riverside Comm Church in downtown Peoria? I have transportation issues at the moment, maybe we could carpool?? Let me know if anyone is interested.

  15. I so loved tonights study, especially when Beth read her 'story' at the end. It brought me to tears as I am one of those emotional gals who cries at commercials on t.v.! I would dearly love to go to the April 24th event. Count me in!

  16. I agree. The story at the end just seemed to make you feel like you were right there listening to him. Beth has a gift for making the Word come to life!

  17. I am catching up on lesson after an emergency with my right eye. It was bleeding inside, but not sure why? I have to keep it dilated for a week now, so it is a challenge to read. I had to absorb, think and pray about lesson 2. It hit hard because my twin sister died Jan 4 and when Beth was talking about looking in the face of Jesus - all I could visualize was my sister doing that very thing as she died suddenly! So I had very mixed emotions about the lesson. After rereading it today it was helpful. I am still got work to do on it.

  18. The question-Would you still go?- hit me hard. Would I still go if I was all alone and no one was looking? God made it really apparent to me that most of the time that I spend seeking Him is for the purpose of teaching or interacting with others about Him. If the blessings of relationship and others in ministry were erased, would I still go? Would I run to him with all I am if no one else was watching? If there was no one there to listen would I still sing His praises?? Heavy stuff..

  19. I am so very thankful for each and everyone of you on this journey with me! What a relief that for this season in my life, God has given me the blessing of fellowship with other like minded believers. Each and every one of you encourage me so!! How's the memory verse coming? Revelation 17:14 They will make war against the Lamb but the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings-and with him will be his called, chosen, and faithful follwers.

  20. I am so thankful that God puts people and situations in our lives for a reason. I am a "regular" at CJ's Cafe, I'm like Norm from Cheers.....everybody knows my name when I walk in. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. :-) But there was a reason I sat working on my Esther/Beth Moore study several months ago and there was a reason Leslie walked in and saw me. Sometimes life gets extra hectic and those reasons don't come to light like you would like them to. That's pretty much where I am right now. I take every opportunity that God gives me and I run with it. I may not know why, but I know it's of God and I don't question it. Thank you all for accepting someone you don't know into your study! I can't get enough of Beth Moore at this point in my life, who knows, that might change soon. But I am looking forward to the April 24th day at Riverside! Enough ramblings for now. Have a wonderful weekend and upcoming week!

  21. A different slant on the letters that John wrote to the 7 churches (Interesting Stuff!!!) I'm doing this in two different posting because it was too long for one.

According to Dr. David Jeremiah the letters that John wrote to the 7 churches can be viewed in three different Views:

    1. Practical view – The 7 letters were addressed to actual, historically-based groups of Christians in the first century AD. They were doing some things right and some things wrong. By way of example we can gain insights about our own spiritual lives by studying their strengths and weaknesses. The mistakes made by the original churches can serve as a warning to us of what can happen if we do not protect our spiritual heritage and leave a legacy for the next generation.

    2. Perennial View –That is studying them as representatives of 7 successive ages of church history. That is at any time in history there are churches which are like each of the seven churches of Revelation. But not only are there churches which are like the 7 original churches, but there are individual Christians who are like them as well. So churches, as well as individuals can learn from the 7 churches of Revelation.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 3. Prophetic View - This view considers the chronological history of the church. Consequently 7 stages of the development of the church.

Stage 1 (Ephesus)“You have fallen.” 33AD to 33AD represented by the church at Ephesus. They had lost their heart of the love of Jesus Christ. This was even during the period when Paul was still alive.

Stage 2 (Smyrna) “Tribulation ten days” 100 AD to 300 AD This refers to the 10 waves of persecution that swept over the church during this period beginning with Emperor Nero and ending with Emperor Diocletian. During that time the soil of the Roman Empire was soaked with the blood of the church as many, Christians gave their lives as martyrs for Christ.

Stage 3 (Pergamos)“The Doctrine of Balaam.” 300 AD to 500 AD Christianity was made the state religion of Rome, united in an unholy union of church and state. However Christian churches became tainted with the pagan practices of the secular Roman Empire. The people of God were enticed by the glitter of the Roman world, the union of good with evil. The idea was to entice the men of Israel to sin with the women of Moab, and God will destroy Israel in judgment.

Stage 4 (Thyatira) “That Woman Jezebel” 500 AD to 1500 AD Jezebel brought her pagan, adulterous heritage into the very throne room of Israel when she became the wife of the weak and worldly Israelite king, Ahab. She became the power behind the throne. This was the time of Inquisition when “heretics,” such as Martin Luther, the father of the Protestant Reformation were persecuted for their beliefs.

Stage 5 (Sardis) “A name… but dead” 1500 AD to 1700 AD Conditions in the church became unbearable. Martin Luther initiated a Reformation in 1517. While a monk he had the insight that “the just shall live by faith” and he left the Catholic Church. The great change that he initiated was justification by faith rather than by penance (works). The Protestant church had a difficult time breaking free from the ritualism it inherited from Rome. The church had a name but little life.

Stage 6 (Philadelphia) “An open door” 1700 AD to 1900 AD An explosive period of revival and missionary expansion. It was the age of preachers like Whitefield, the Wesley brothers, Moody, and others. Social ills such as slavery, drunkenness, child labor, orphans, and poverty were addressed. Missionaries answered the call and traveled throughout the world. God opened the door, and the church went through it in many ways and in many directions.

Stage 7 (Laodicea) “Lukewarm” 1900 to Present Day. This is the age that we live in today lasting until the Rapture of the church. According to this theory the church of today is a sickly church, wretched, blind, and naked, torn by cults, and kept off-balanced by offbeat theologies. It is a church which has lived in the world while failing not to be of the world at the same time. It is a church consumed with itself and its own comfort while millions march toward a Christless eternity. Pretty harsh words!

  23. At my church we sometimes have people come forward to share what God is doing or has done in their life recently. Yesterday a couple got up and shared about their son and daughter in law who just this past week got three kids! I thought, gee that story sounds familiar. After the service I went up to the couple and sure enough it was Chris Booher's mom and dad that has been coming to my church for awhile now. They are very excited and happy for their son and his wife! I introduced myself and told them how I invaded Grace's Beth Moore study and she got even more excited! You just never know who God is going to put in your path....the fun part is finding out why He does!

  24. How exciting! Thanks Barb for the information on the 7 churches. Very interesting. It is good to hear the different views.
Jenny, I am SO very glad you joined our Bible study group! It is such a blessing to have people from different churches come together in worship and study. Not is it only a blessing to meet other members of the family of Christ, it is also fun get to know others and hear their thoughts and opinions on topics. Thanks for coming! Looking forward to this week. Following HIM certainly is an adventure!!

  25. I have erased this post at least three times. Sometimes I am so overwhelmed by God that I am simply left speechless. Just read over the posts and watched session 5. I am truly blessed to be a believer and be in relationship with my God. He has been such a confort and been so "sweet" to me that I can scarcly stand it. Thanks for how you, as sisters in study, continue to show me Him again and again! I love you so!!

  26. Anybody know what the significance of 1/3 is in the opening of the seventh seal (Rev. 8)? I just finished reading and am on a mission to try to find out what, if anything, that means? God's word is rich and full of so much more than we can ever imagine. Oh that I may continue to discover the treasures of God and His Word all the days of my life!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I wondered about the 1/3 too, thought maybe Beth would fill us in on that later on knowing her. :-) Life's circumstances have kept me from digging as deep as I would normally do so I just try and soak up the videos as best as I can. On another happy note....I got my ticket to the Simulcast!

  28. I thought Beth said it was only 1/3 because God wasn't ready to destroy ALL - God is warning others while 1/3 is targeted. Giving the rest another chance to "shape up".

    ReplyDelete
  29. Good thought Judy. I don't remember that but I know that when God made the new covenant with Moses He promised never again to destroy the whole earth. May be related to that. Looking forward to seeing you tonight.

  31. DIRECTIONS TO HIS HOUSE

Make a Right onto "Believeth Blvd."

Keep straight and go through the Green Light, which is Jesus Christ.

From there, you must turn onto the "Bridge of Faith," which is over troubled
    Water.

When you get off the bridge, make a Right turn and Keep Straight.

You are on the "King's Highway" - Heaven-bound.

Keep going for three miles: One for the Father, One for the Son, and One for
    The Holy Ghost.

Then exit off onto "Grace Blvd."

From there, make a Right turn on "Gospel Lane."

Keep Straight and then make another Right on "Prayer Blvd."

As you go on your way, Yield Not to the traffic on "Temptation Ave."

Also, avoid SIN STREET because it is a DEAD END.

Pass up "Envy Drive," and "Have Avenue."

Also, pass "Hypocrisy Street," "Gossiping Lane" and "Backbiting Blvd."

But you have to go down "Long-suffering Lane", "Persecution Blvd.," and
    "Trials and Tribulations Ave."

But that's all right, because VICTORY Blvd. Is straight ahead!

    God Bless

Happy Easter! He is Truly Risen!

    Judy

  33. Sitting here in the early morning with a cup of coffee and my cat by my side, I can honestly say that for the past ten years I have been doing what I love and love what I'm doing. I have been a Nanny/Personal Assistant for the same family for all this time. But due to some circumstances in my sister's life, I am now her caregiver for awhile. Which means I can't work and I don't have an income. My sister is 61 and has lived with me for more than ten years. ( ahhh, yes we have our moments but we are close ).

Because of some of those circumstances I found my mind wondering during last nights study. I kept thinking, "Ok Beth, get to the point, say something really profound so I can go home and share". :-)

Guess what, she did. At the end. Go figure.

I was so glad to be reminded that I am NOT fragile. I am MORE than a conqueror! I wear a wreath of victory and I'm going to continue to act as though I do! I will not let the enemy squash my God given dreams just because of rotten circumstances. He knows he doesn't stand a chance with me, I don't know why he keeps trying. :-)

    Have a blessed week everyone!

  34. It seems that when Satan is after me the hardest, I am drawn the closest to God. While I never look forward to the times when Satan seems to be really against me, I do look forward to the victory in the end and being closer still to my God! Praise the Lord we are overcomers!! What a glorious victory those of us who follow Christ can claim!! Thanks for reminding us of that powerful truth from Scripture. Beth put it in at the end and could have been easily missed. So thankful to be in fellowship with you Jenny.

  35. I just read a book by Mitch Albom "Have a Little Faith" same author of "Tuesdays with Morrie". In this book he is asked by his childhood Rabbi to do his funeral and the story goes for several years as he collects information on the Rabbi, the Jews faith etc. and the other character in the book is a African American who has done drugs, killed, robbed etc. and becomes a minister for the down and out. It's goes back in forth and sort of compares the two religions. It's worth reading
